On 28th December, the PAS annual New Year¡¯s celebration was held in IAT. SONG Wei, Dean of PAS; LI Xiaogang, Deputy Dean; ZHOU Xingguo, Dean Assistant; WANG Qiang, Director of the Administration Office; YANG Hui, Director of the JM Centre; QIN Jie, Director Assistant of the JM Centre; LIU Yinghua, Director of the International Affairs Office; TIAN Yu, Director Assistant of the International Affairs Office; SONG Xiaoyan, Director of the Graduate Office; HU Haiyang, Secretary of the PAS committee; FU Chen, Director Assistant of the Students¡¯ Affairs Office; Professor Luca; all the staff and teachers; Chinese students and international students attended the party.

This year¡¯s celebration theme was ¡°Present Your Youth¡±. After a brilliant opening show of international student¡¯s T-walk, Dean SONG gave an opening speech. He delivered New Year¡¯s greetings to everyone and showed appreciation for their efforts in the past year. In order to pursue a bright future at our school, he advised everyone to be active in both life and work.

The first program was a classic dance from the USTC dance team. Two groups of international students then separately sang All of Me and Malaika with a piano accompaniment, followed by a chorus performance by international students.

Next up was the Chinese contest segment for international students, which combined useful knowledge and Chinese culture. Although some questions seemed a little bit difficult for students, all international participants tried their best to answer in Chinese. They expressed their passion for learning Chinese language and culture and entertained the audience with their humor and enthusiasm throughout the interactive quiz. International students not only performed well in the Chinese contest, but also showed their talent in a song remix and group dance.

In the last part, Juris Master students from the class of 2016 and students from the Public Administration department¡¯s class of 2016 each performed a group song. The closing show was a chorus of Old Lang Syne sung by Juris Master students from the class of 2014.

This New Year¡¯s Party showcased students¡¯ wisdom and talents. With the increasing number of international students, PAS has paid more attention to internationalization. Considering international students¡¯ homesickness, PAS has strengthened its relationship with students by promoting their passion for Chinese culture. The Chinese contest was organized with the intention of increasing students¡¯ language ability in order to help them live more comfortably in China.

Wishing a happy new year to PAS!
